New Volunteer Requirements

Wildcat Families,

At the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District, our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our students. Volunteers are the heartbeat of our schools—whether you are helping in a classroom, coaching a team, or chaperoning a field trip, your presence makes a difference in the lives of our students.

We are updating our volunteer protocols as required by law (Senate Bill 848 and Assembly Bill 506). Starting this calendar year, all volunteers are required to complete a brief Mandated Reporter training.

How to be Ready to Volunteer

To volunteer or attend a field trip this year, please ensure you have completed the following:

  • Mandated Reporter Training: Complete the same free, online-based training our employees receive every year.  You will need to start your volunteer application through Raptor VolunteerSafe here (Spanish).  Once you have completed your application, you will be assigned the mandated reporter training in Vector Solutions through the email account you list on your application.  Once the training is complete, your application will be approved, and you will be ready to volunteer!

  • Already completed mandated reporter training this year? If you have already completed the training within the last twelve months, you may attach the certificate to your application, and you will not have to complete our training.  Accepted certificates include those from the California Department of Social Services, which can be found here.

Why Is This New Training Required?

This update focuses not just on reporting, but on prevention. This training empowers our volunteers to recognize "grooming" behaviors and understand the professional boundaries required to keep both students and adults safe.
