We are so excited to welcome your students to Summer Jump Start this Tuesday, June 9th, at Valley Elementary School! Our program is dedicated to Making a Difference for Every Child Above and Beyond the School Day!
**Find Your Teacher: Please log into the Aeries Parent Portal before Tuesday to check your child's assigned summer school teacher and classroom number.
To ensure a smooth, safe, and successful first day, please review this quick checklist of essential policies and schedule reminders.
⏰ Arrival & Dismissal Times
6:45 AM: Gates open only for students enrolled in the Sunshine Club.
7:30 AM: Regular student arrival begins
TK & Kindergarten- Enter gate 2, then to MPR
1st- 5th Grade- Enter gate 2, then to the blacktop
12:00 PM: Morning (AM) Session Dismissal.
2:30 PM, 3:30 PM, or 5:00 PM: PM Session Dismissal times.
Note: To avoid disrupting lessons, students will only be released at these specific times. If you need to pick up early, please contact the clerk the morning of so your student can be put into the correct pick-up group.
ID Required: Photo identification is required every day for PM pickups. Students will only be released to adults (18+) listed in Aeries.
Late Pickup: Repeated late pickups past 5:00 PM may result in dismissal from the program to open up spots for the waitlist.
☀️ Summer Safety & Attire
Footwear: Closed-toe shoes (sneakers, crocs, etc.) are required for playground safety. No flip-flops or slides.
Hydration: Please send your child with a labeled, refillable (or disposable) water bottle daily.
Sunscreen: Please apply sunscreen to your child before they arrive each morning.
TK & Kindergarten Families: Please send a complete change of clothes in a labeled, gallon-sized Ziploc bag to keep at school.
Meals: Free breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided daily, but students are always welcome to bring their own lunch or snack.
🚫 Cell Phones & Personal Property
No Phones: Student cell phone use is strictly prohibited during program hours.
Leave at Home: Please do not send toys, personal electronics, or items to buy/sell/trade. The District is not responsible for lost or damaged property.
📋 Attendance & Changes
Consistent Attendance: Every day at Jump Start is packed with critical math, language arts, and hands-on Space Camp projects. To ensure your child gets the full benefit of this program, regular daily attendance is encouraged.
Withdrawals: If your summer plans have changed, please email Stars@ycjusd.us immediately so we can offer the spot to a family on the waitlist.
Data Check: Please verify that your contact and emergency information are completely up to date in the Aeries Student Information System (Parent Portal).
